Import from a photo

Photograph a recipe from a cookbook, magazine, or handwritten card and import it into RecipeMe.
Steps
- Open RecipeMe and tap the + button.
- Select Camera.
- Take a photo of the recipe, or pick an existing photo from your library.
- The photo appears on screen. Tap and hold on any text in the photo — iOS automatically recognises the text (Live Text).
- Select all the recipe text, tap Copy, then paste it into the text box below the photo.
- Tap Parse Recipe. RecipeMe structures the ingredients and steps automatically.
📱 iOS Live Text: On iPhone XS and later running iOS 15+, you can tap and hold directly on text in any photo to select and copy it. This works perfectly for recipe books and printed recipes.
ℹ️ Best results: Make sure the photo is well-lit and the text is clear. Hold the phone parallel to the page to avoid distortion.
